The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard

This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

What the notice says: The swings were marketed for infant sleep and have an incline angle greater than 10 degrees, violating the mandatory safety standard for Infant Sleep Products and the ban on inclined sleepers under the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, posing a deadly suffocation risk.

Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

What to do about Strangulation

Sanven Technology — This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

  1. Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
  2. Do not resell, donate or hand it on. Passing on a recalled nursery item is illegal in the United States and is the main way these products stay in circulation.
  3. Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
  4. Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.

How the remedy works

CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.

  • A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
  • A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.
  • A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
  • Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately stop using the swings and contact Sanven Technology for a full refund. Consumers should remove the swing cover and cut it in half and send a photo of the destroyed cover with "Recalled" written with permanent marker on the swing's base to [email protected] and then dispose of the swing in accordance with local and state laws.

Company contact: Sanven Technology toll-free at 855-599-6320 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email at [email protected], or online at https://www.vevor.com/pages/vevor-baby-swing-recall or at www.vevor.com and click "Product Recall" at the top of the page for more information.
