The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard

This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

What the notice says: The recalled baby loungers violate the mandatory safety standard for infant sleep products. The sides are too low to contain an infant and the enclosed openings at the foot of the loungers are wider than allowed, posing serious risks of fall and entrapment hazards to infants. In addition, the baby loungers do not have a stand, posing a fall hazard if used on elevated surfaces. These violations create an unsafe sleeping environment and can cause death or serious injury.

Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

What to do about Strangulation

Vevor — This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

  1. Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
  2. Do not resell, donate or hand it on. Passing on a recalled nursery item is illegal in the United States and is the main way these products stay in circulation.
  3. Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
  4. Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.

How the remedy works

CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.

  • A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
  • A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.
  • A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
  • Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled baby loungers immediately and contact Vevor for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to remove the foam and pad from the baby lounger's cover and cut the cover, foam and pad in half. Consumers will email photos of the destroyed pieces [email protected] to receive a full refund.

Company contact: Vevor toll-free at?855-599-6320?from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email [email protected], or online at vevor.com/pages/vevor-baby-loungers or at?www.vevor.com?and click "Product Recall" at the top of the page for more information.
