What to do about Product safety

KTM North America — This product was recalled on safety grounds. The safest first move is to put it out of reach rather than to carry on using it carefully.

  1. Stop using the product and move it somewhere a child or pet cannot reach it.
  2. If the product already hurt someone, file a report at SaferProducts.gov.
  3. Check the model number and date code against the identifiers on this page, and photograph them.
  4. Do not resell, donate or pass it on — reselling a recalled product is illegal in the United States.

How the remedy works

CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.

  • A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
  • Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.
  • Return shipping is the company’s cost. If you are asked to pay it, push back.
  • A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop riding the recalled motorcycles immediately and contact an authorized GASGAS or Husqvarna Motorcycle dealer to schedule a free repair at the dealership.

Company contact: GASGAS and Husqvarna toll-free at 888-985-6090 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, online at https://www.gasgas.com/en-us.html or https://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-us.html and click on "Safety Recall Information" located at the bottom of the page. Consumers can check the vehicle identification number (VIN) number at https://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-us/service/recalls-check.html or https://www.gasgas.com/en-us/service/recalls-check.html to determine if their unit is affected.
