The hazard: Child-resistant packaging failure

The product itself is as intended; the packaging is what failed. It does not meet the child-resistant standard the law requires for these contents.

What the notice says: The hair and beard growth serum contains minoxidil, which must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The bottles are not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

Why it matters: The packaging does not meet the child-resistant standard the Poison Prevention Packaging Act requires for this type of product. A young child can open it, and the contents are harmful if swallowed.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child has swallowed any of the contents, call Poison Control on 1-800-222-1222 straight away — before searching online, and before trying to make them sick. Have the container with you so you can read the ingredients and strength. Call 911 instead if the child is drowsy, having a seizure, struggling to breathe or unconscious.

Products covered by this recall

This recall involves TecFlox's topical solution bottles. The hair and beard growth serum comes in white plastic bottles fitted with a white nozzle and was sold in packs of four bottles. "TecFlox Minoxidil Topical Solution" is printed on the bottle's label and the manufacture date "MFD 2025.8.25" on the underside of the bottle.

What to do about Packaging

The product itself is as intended; the packaging is what failed. It does not meet the child-resistant standard the law requires for these contents.

  1. Move the product somewhere a child genuinely cannot reach — a high, locked cupboard rather than a high shelf.
  2. Follow the remedy on this page; most of these recalls are refunded or re-packaged free.
  3. Check whether you have other packs from the same lot in a bathroom cabinet or a garage.
  4. Do not decant it into another container, especially not a drinks bottle or a food jar.

Claiming your refund, repair or replacement

The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.

  • Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
  • No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
  • If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
  • If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately secure the recalled serum bottles out of sight and reach of children and contact TecFlox to receive free replacement serum bottles, including shipping. Only bottles with serum remaining will be replaced. Consumers will be asked to dispose of the bottles' contents and email a photo of the bottles in the trash, showing the manufacture date to [email protected]
