The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard

The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.

What the notice says: The recalled drain covers violate the entrapment protection standards of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA), posing deadly entrapment and drowning hazards to consumers.

Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

Products covered by this recall

This recall involves the Sviyatp white pool drain cover, sold as a replacement pool drain cover for swimming pools. The Sviyatp Pool Drain Cover has no labeling or product identification on the product itself. The pool drain cover comes in clear packaging with "X0050114ZZ," "SV-SP1030-001," "Sviyatp Dual Suction Outlet," and "MADE IN CHINA" printed on the label. The pool drain cover included two stainless steel screws.

What to do about Strangulation

The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.

  1. Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
  2. Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
  3. Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.
  4. For sleep products, put the baby down on a firm, flat surface with nothing else in it — a crib, bassinet or play yard meeting current federal standards.

Claiming your refund, repair or replacement

The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.

  • Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
  • No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
  • If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
  • If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.

Remedy named in the notice: Pool owners, pool operators and consumers should stop using pools with the recalled pool drain covers immediately and contact Sviyatp for a full refund. To receive a refund, consumers will be asked to remove the drain cover from the pool, write "RECALL" with a marker on the cover, take a photo, then dispose of it. If feasible, disable the drain cover by cutting the perimeter structure to prevent reinstallation or further functional use. Send the photo to Sviyatp by email at [email protected]. Ensure all pools and spas have VGBA-compliant drain covers and teach children to stay away from drains.
