Sangohe Bed Rails recall: The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed
The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails because when the bed rails are attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail…

The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard
This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.
What the notice says: The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails because when the bed rails are attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation. In addition, the bed rails do not bear the required hazard warning labels.
Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.
This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

The black, trapezoidal-shaped bed rails measure about 22.4 inches wide by 32 inches tall and have an extendable handle with gray padding and a storage mesh pocket. What to do about Strangulation
This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.
- Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
- Do not resell, donate or hand it on. Passing on a recalled nursery item is illegal in the United States and is the main way these products stay in circulation.
- Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
- Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.
How the remedy works
CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.
- A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
- A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.
- A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
- Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Sangohe for a full refund. Consumers should destroy the bed rails by cutting the handrails' foam padding and writing "RECALLED" on the upper and lower rails with permanent marker, take a photo of the destroyed rails and email the photo to [email protected].
Company contact: Sangohe by email at [email protected], or online at https://commodechair.com/ and click "Recall" at the top of the page for more information.
