The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard

This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

What the notice says: The drawstrings in the recalled clothing can get caught on objects and cause death or serious injury to children due to an entrapment hazard.

Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

What to do about Strangulation

Little Loves & Co. — This product can trap a child or restrict their airway, which is why the advice is to stop using it today rather than to supervise it more closely.

  1. Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
  2. Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
  3. Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.
  4. For sleep products, put the baby down on a firm, flat surface with nothing else in it — a crib, bassinet or play yard meeting current federal standards.

How the remedy works

CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.

  • A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
  • A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
  • Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.
  • Return shipping is the company’s cost. If you are asked to pay it, push back.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should take the recalled clothing away from children immediately and contact Little Loves & Co. for a full refund after return of the product. Consumers should contact Little Loves & Co. to receive a pre-paid shipping label to return the garment. Upon receipt, affected consumers will be issued a refund. If consumers would prefer to keep the garment, they should cut and remove the drawstring.

Company contact: Little Loves & Co. at 206-659-8136 from Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, email at [email protected] or online at littlelovesandco.com/pages/recall or at littlelovesandco.com click on “RECALL” at the top of the page for more information.
