Lifetime Brands Built Luum Light Up Tumblers recall: Risk of Choking and Battery Ingestion Hazards
Risk of Choking and Battery Ingestion Hazards

The hazard: Button battery hazard
The hazard in this recall is a button or coin-cell battery a child can reach, and it is one of the few product hazards where serious injury happens in hours rather than days.
What the notice says: The recalled LED tumblers can break, making the button cell batteries accessible to children and posing choking and ingestion hazards. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns and death.
Why it matters: The battery compartment can be opened by a child, or the cell can work loose. A swallowed coin-cell battery generates an alkaline burn where it lodges and can damage the oesophagus within a couple of hours — while the child still looks well.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
A swallowed button battery is an emergency. Go straight to an emergency department; do not induce vomiting and do not give food or drink unless staff tell you to. The National Battery Ingestion Hotline on 800-498-8666 takes calls around the clock. Early signs can be as vague as drooling, refusing food, coughing, gagging or chest pain, and a child who swallowed one unobserved may show nothing at all at first.

What to do about Button battery
Lifetime Brands — The hazard in this recall is a button or coin-cell battery a child can reach, and it is one of the few product hazards where serious injury happens in hours rather than days.
- Take the product away from children now, before reading the rest of this page.
- If a battery is missing from the product, treat that as a possible ingestion and go to an emergency department.
- Do not tape the compartment shut and carry on — the remedy on this page exists because that does not hold.
- Store loose coin cells, new and used, out of reach and out of sight, and dispose of spent ones the same day.
Claiming your refund, repair or replacement
The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.
- Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
- If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.
- Have the model number, the date code and your photos ready. Many companies issue store credit by default — ask for cash or a card reversal if you would rather have it.
- No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled tumblers immediately, place them in an area that children cannot access and properly dispose of the battery. Contact Lifetime Brands for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to throw the piece with the LED light away and upload a photo of the product in the trash when completing a Product Recall Refund Form at https://www.builtny.com/pages/recall. Note: Button cell batteries are hazardous. Batteries should be disposed of or recycled by following local hazardous waste procedure.
Company contact: Lifetime Brands toll-free at 888-561-2269 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at [email protected], or online at https://www.builtny.com/pages/recall or www.builtny.com and click "Recall" at the bottom of the page for more information.
