JC Sales Lil' Buddies Pet Laser Toys recall: Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Battery Ingestion Hazard
Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Battery Ingestion Hazard; Violates Mandatory Standard for Consumer Products with Button Cell Batteries

The hazard: Button battery hazard
The hazard in this recall is a button or coin-cell battery a child can reach, and it is one of the few product hazards where serious injury happens in hours rather than days.
What the notice says: The Montessori toy sets contain an airplane shaped teething toy that has tentacle ends that can pose a choking hazard to young children. The toys also violate the teething toy provision of the mandatory standard for children's toys.
Why it matters: The battery compartment can be opened by a child, or the cell can work loose. A swallowed coin-cell battery generates an alkaline burn where it lodges and can damage the oesophagus within a couple of hours — while the child still looks well.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
A swallowed button battery is an emergency. Go straight to an emergency department; do not induce vomiting and do not give food or drink unless staff tell you to. The National Battery Ingestion Hotline on 800-498-8666 takes calls around the clock. Early signs can be as vague as drooling, refusing food, coughing, gagging or chest pain, and a child who swallowed one unobserved may show nothing at all at first.

What to do about Button battery
JC Sales — The hazard in this recall is a button or coin-cell battery a child can reach, and it is one of the few product hazards where serious injury happens in hours rather than days.
- Take the product away from children now, before reading the rest of this page.
- Follow the company’s remedy for the product itself and keep the packaging until the claim is settled.
- If a battery is missing from the product, treat that as a possible ingestion and go to an emergency department.
- Do not tape the compartment shut and carry on — the remedy on this page exists because that does not hold.
Claiming your refund, repair or replacement
The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.
- Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
- If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
- If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.
- Have the model number, the date code and your photos ready. Many companies issue store credit by default — ask for cash or a card reversal if you would rather have it.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled pet toys, place them in an area that children cannot access and properly dispose of the batteries. Contact JC Sales for a full refund. Customers will be asked to email a photograph of the disposed items to [email protected]. Note: Button cell batteries are hazardous. Batteries should be disposed of or recycled by following local hazardous waste procedures.
Company contact: JC Sales toll free at 866-540-3334 and leave a voicemail. Voicemails are processed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email at [email protected] or online at https://www.jcsalesweb.com/ and click the "Recall" button on website for more information.
