What to do about Product safety

This product was recalled on safety grounds. The safest first move is to put it out of reach rather than to carry on using it carefully.

  1. Stop using the product and move it somewhere a child or pet cannot reach it.
  2. Check the model number and date code against the identifiers on this page, and photograph them.
  3. Do not resell, donate or pass it on — reselling a recalled product is illegal in the United States.
  4. Follow the remedy the notice specifies, and register the claim before you destroy anything.

How the remedy works

CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.

  • A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
  • Return shipping is the company’s cost. If you are asked to pay it, push back.
  • A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.
  • A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled bands immediately and contact HomeProGym for a full refund or a $50 HomeProGym.com store credit. Consumers will be asked to destroy the purple 60-pound resistance and the gray 70-pound resistance bands by cutting them in half, send a photo of the destroyed bands to [email protected], and complete the registration form at https://homeprogym.com/pages/recall. Consumers should then dispose of the destroyed product. Consumers can continue to use the other bands.

Company contact: HomeProGym by email at [email protected] or online at https://homeprogym.com/pages/recall or https://homeprogym.com/ and click on 'Safety Recalls" at the bottom of the page for more information.
