The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard

The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.

What the notice says: The high chairs pose a risk of serious injury or death to children because they violate the mandatory standard for high chairs. The high chairs were sold without the required attached restraint system, posing a serious risk of falls to children. In addition, a child's head can become trapped in the opening created between the seat and the tray, posing a deadly entrapment hazard.

Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

They were sold in green, pink and gray.

Check your product

The notice names 2 codes you can read straight off the package. Type the one printed on yours and the list below narrows to it.

Lot or batch code

Usually ink-stamped near the seam, the cap or the bottom of the pack.

  • 202408

Model or item number

On the rating label, the box or the instruction sheet.

  • BHC001

Codes are lifted verbatim from the CPSC — Consumer Product Safety Commission notice. A code that is missing here may still be covered — the official notice is the complete list.

What to do about Strangulation

The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.

  1. Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
  2. Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
  3. Claim the remedy on this page, photographing the model and date code first — the claim form will ask for both.
  4. For sleep products, put the baby down on a firm, flat surface with nothing else in it — a crib, bassinet or play yard meeting current federal standards.

Claiming your refund, repair or replacement

The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.

  • Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
  • No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
  • If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
  • If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately stop using the high chairs and contact Harppa for a replacement high chair. Consumers should email [email protected] and provide the order number, order date, or photo of the tracking label located on the seatback. Upon verification of the recalled product, Harppa will plan for the replacement high chair to be delivered to the consumer. To destroy the recalled high chair, consumers should disassemble the high chair, cut the restraints and seat cover, and email photos of the disassembled and destroyed parts. Consumers must provide proof that the recalled product has been destroyed.

Company contact: Harppa toll-free at 844-796-8168 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at [email protected], or online at https://harppababy.com/pages/2025-harppa-high-chair-model-bhc001-voluntary-recall and click "Recall" at the top of the page for more information.
