What to do about Product safety

Decathlon America — The notice above names the hazard. CPSC recalls are issued because someone can be hurt, not because the product underperforms.

  1. Stop using the product and move it somewhere a child or pet cannot reach it.
  2. Follow the remedy the notice specifies, and register the claim before you destroy anything.
  3. If the product already hurt someone, file a report at SaferProducts.gov.
  4. Check the model number and date code against the identifiers on this page, and photograph them.

Claiming your refund, repair or replacement

The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.

  • Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
  • No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
  • If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
  • If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled bicycles immediately and take them to the nearest Recreational Equipment (REI Co-op) location for a free inspection and repair service of the front fork assembly. Anyone unable to visit an REI Co-op location can contact Decathlon Customer Service directly for assistance. Recalled models can be identified by the Van Rysel Product ID on the top right of the product label under the frame, beginning with the number 5.

Company contact: Decathlon America at 415-408-5494 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email at [email protected] or online at https://www.decathlon.com/pages/product-safety-recalls or https://www.decathlon.com/ and click "Recalls" in the footer at the bottom of the page.
