Children's Homeal Bed Rails recall: The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for children's portable
The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for children's portable bed rails because when installed adjacent to the bed, a child can become entrapped in the openings on…

The hazard: Strangulation, entrapment or suffocation hazard
The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.
What the notice says: The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for children's portable bed rails because when installed adjacent to the bed, a child can become entrapped in the openings on the side of the mattress, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment.
Why it matters: A cord, gap, strap or soft surface on this product can trap a child or restrict their breathing. These incidents are silent: there is no noise to bring an adult in from the next room.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
If a child is found trapped or unresponsive, free them if you safely can, call 911, and start CPR if they are not breathing. Even after an apparently full recovery, a child who lost consciousness or had their airway blocked needs to be assessed the same day, because swelling and lung injury can develop afterwards.

What to do about Strangulation
The hazard in this recall is entrapment or strangulation, the category behind most nursery-product fatalities, and one that gives no audible warning.
- Stop using the product immediately and move it out of the room where the child sleeps or plays.
- For sleep products, put the baby down on a firm, flat surface with nothing else in it — a crib, bassinet or play yard meeting current federal standards.
- Do not resell, donate or hand it on. Passing on a recalled nursery item is illegal in the United States and is the main way these products stay in circulation.
- Tell every other carer: grandparents, childminders, nurseries. Recalled sleep products most often resurface at a second home.
Claiming your refund, repair or replacement
The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.
- Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
- If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.
- Have the model number, the date code and your photos ready. Many companies issue store credit by default — ask for cash or a card reversal if you would rather have it.
- No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact HOMEAL for a full refund. Consumers should remove the cloth covering from the frame, cut the cloth in half, and email a photo of the destroyed cloth and frame to HOMEAL at [email protected]. Upon receipt of the photo, HOMEAL will issue a full refund. Consumers should dispose of the recalled bed rails in accordance with state and local waste disposal procedures.
Company contact: HOMEAL by email at [email protected].
