Cambridge Audio Yoyo Portable Bluetooth Speakers recall: Fire Hazard
Fire Hazard

The hazard: Fire or burn hazard
A fire or burn risk is what prompted this recall. Most of these incidents happen while the product is charging or left running unattended.
What the notice says: The lithium-ion batteries in the Cambridge Audio Yoyo (M) Portable Bluetooth Speaker can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Why it matters: The product can overheat, ignite or cause a burn. Where lithium batteries are involved the failure is fast and very hot, and water does not put it out quickly.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
Treat a burn by cooling it under running water for about 20 minutes — not with ice, butter or ointment — and cover it loosely with a clean non-fluffy cloth. Get medical help for burns that are larger than the person’s palm, that are deep or white or charred, that involve the face, hands, feet or genitals, or any burn to a baby or young child. If someone has inhaled smoke and is coughing, hoarse or short of breath, call 911.
This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

What to do about Fire
Audio Partnership — A fire or burn risk is what prompted this recall. Most of these incidents happen while the product is charging or left running unattended.
- Stop using it and unplug it from the wall. If it runs on a battery pack, stop charging it.
- Move it off anything that burns — a bed, a sofa, a carpet, a pile of paper — and away from exits.
- Do not leave it charging overnight or while the house is empty while you wait for the remedy.
- If it has already overheated, scorched or swelled, do not keep using it and do not try to repair it.
How the remedy works
CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.
- A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
- Return shipping is the company’s cost. If you are asked to pay it, push back.
- A repair kit is shipped free and is designed to be fitted at home; if you cannot fit it, ask whether they will arrange installation.
- A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled speakers immediately, disconnect them from the power supply, stop charging them, store them away from combustible materials and contact Audio Partnership for a full cash refund of $218 or Cambridge Audio online store voucher of $350. Once Audio Partnership has processed the request, consumers should then dispose of the product in accordance with any local and state ordinances. Note: Do not throw this recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash, the general recycling stream (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal. Before taking your battery or device to a HHW collection center, contact that office ahead of time and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries. If it does not, contact your municipality for further guidance.
Company contact: Consumers may contact Audio Partnership toll-free at 888 805-5001 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at https://www.cambridgeaudio.com/usa/en/product-recall and clicking on the corresponding link for the Cambridge Yoyo (M) product for more information or to fill out product recall information.
