Belkin Portable Power Banks and Wireless Charging Stands recall: Fire and Burn Hazards
Fire and Burn Hazards

The hazard: Fire or burn hazard
A fire or burn risk is what prompted this recall. Most of these incidents happen while the product is charging or left running unattended.
What the notice says: The lithium-ion battery in the power banks and charging stands can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Why it matters: The product can overheat, ignite or cause a burn. Where lithium batteries are involved the failure is fast and very hot, and water does not put it out quickly.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
Treat a burn by cooling it under running water for about 20 minutes — not with ice, butter or ointment — and cover it loosely with a clean non-fluffy cloth. Get medical help for burns that are larger than the person’s palm, that are deep or white or charred, that involve the face, hands, feet or genitals, or any burn to a baby or young child. If someone has inhaled smoke and is coughing, hoarse or short of breath, call 911.
This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

What to do about Fire
Belkin — A fire or burn risk is what prompted this recall. Most of these incidents happen while the product is charging or left running unattended.
- Stop using it and unplug it from the wall. If it runs on a battery pack, stop charging it.
- If it has already overheated, scorched or swelled, do not keep using it and do not try to repair it.
- Check that your smoke alarms work while you are thinking about it, and follow the remedy on this page.
- Move it off anything that burns — a bed, a sofa, a carpet, a pile of paper — and away from exits.
How the remedy works
CPSC recalls specify one of three remedies, and which one you get is not negotiable — but how smoothly it goes often is.
- A refund means the purchase price back, sometimes prorated by age for durable goods. Ask how they calculated it if the figure looks low.
- A replacement is usually the current model, not the recalled one. Confirm the replacement is not itself under recall.
- Several recalls now ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof. Register the claim before you do that, never after.
- Return shipping is the company’s cost. If you are asked to pay it, push back.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power banks and charging stands and contact Belkin to receive a full refund or store credit. Consumers should submit photos showing the front and back of the product with their recall submission form. Consumers can receive a full refund for the amount on the purchase receipt, if provided. If no receipt is provided, consumers can receive the average sales price for the model. Alternatively, consumers can choose to receive a Belkin store credit worth 20 percent more than the average sales price of the model. Note: Do not throw this recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash, the general recycling stream (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal. Before taking your battery or device to a HHW collection center, contact that office ahead of time and ask whether it accepts…
