Astemrey Y'all Can DIY Liquid Bioethanol Fireplace Fuel Containers recall: Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Flash Fire
Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Flash Fire; Violates Mandatory Standard for Portable Fuel Containers

The hazard: Fire or burn hazard
This product can overheat or catch fire, which is why the instruction is to unplug and stop using it rather than to keep an eye on it.
What the notice says: The recalled fuel containers violate the mandatory safety standards for portable fuel containers because they lack flame mitigation devices required under the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act, posing a deadly risk of flash fire.
Why it matters: The product can overheat, ignite or cause a burn. Where lithium batteries are involved the failure is fast and very hot, and water does not put it out quickly.
Symptoms and when to call a doctor
Treat a burn by cooling it under running water for about 20 minutes — not with ice, butter or ointment — and cover it loosely with a clean non-fluffy cloth. Get medical help for burns that are larger than the person’s palm, that are deep or white or charred, that involve the face, hands, feet or genitals, or any burn to a baby or young child. If someone has inhaled smoke and is coughing, hoarse or short of breath, call 911.
This page is general information, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, a clinician who can see you is the only person able to judge your case.

What to do about Fire
Astemrey — This product can overheat or catch fire, which is why the instruction is to unplug and stop using it rather than to keep an eye on it.
- Stop using it and unplug it from the wall. If it runs on a battery pack, stop charging it.
- If it has already overheated, scorched or swelled, do not keep using it and do not try to repair it.
- Check that your smoke alarms work while you are thinking about it, and follow the remedy on this page.
- Move it off anything that burns — a bed, a sofa, a carpet, a pile of paper — and away from exits.
Claiming your refund, repair or replacement
The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.
- Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with a claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
- No receipt? Say so. Recall refunds are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard is what triggers the obligation.
- If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods from the order history.
- If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency.
Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled fireplace fuel immediately, place them out of reach of children, and contact Astemrey to receive free replacement container of fuel. To participate, consumers should clearly mark the product container with "DO NOT USE," the Amazon order number, then take a photo showing the entire product with the markings visible and email it to [email protected] for verification to receive the replacement. Once Astemrey verifies your request for replacement, properly dispose of the original bottle and contents. Only products manufactured and sold after January 12, 2025, are included in this recall. Note: Consumers should follow local household hazardous waste (HHW) guidance for flammable liquids. Contact your city, county, or state HHW program for instructions, as requirements may differ by location. Safe approach: Keep the product in its container, clearly label it 'Do Not Use,' and bring it to a local HHW drop-off. Do not pour fuel into drains. Do not place fuel in household trash. Because requirements may vary by state, county, or city, consumers should always follow the disposal instructions provided by their local HHW program.
