What is wrong
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Freightliner Business Class M2, 2022-2027 FCCC XCM, FCCC XCR, 2023 Freightliner 108SD, 2024-2027 FCCC XCS and FCCC XBS vehicles equipped with certain Cummins L9 diesel engines. The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall.
The risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
Why fuel system defects matter: A fuel leak near an ignition source increases the risk of fire, and a failing fuel pump can stall the engine while driving.
The remedy
Cummins will replace the fuel hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. DTNA's number for this recall is F1042.
About the fuel system
The fuel system stores and delivers fuel to the engine; leaks and pump failures are the usual reasons for a recall.

- If you smell fuel or see a leak, do not drive the vehicle — park it outside, away from buildings, and call the dealer.
- Safety recall repairs are carried out free of charge by the manufacturer’s dealers. If you already paid for this repair yourself, ask the manufacturer about reimbursement and keep your receipt.
Check by VIN
A campaign rarely covers every vehicle of a model year. Enter your 17-character VIN to find the recall campaigns filed for your make, model and model year. The VIN is on the driver’s side of the dashboard (visible through the windshield), on the door-jamb label, and on your registration and insurance documents.
Is a recall still open on your vehicle? Only NHTSA’s official VIN check can say whether a campaign applies to your exact vehicle and whether the repair has already been done.
Your VIN is decoded with NHTSA’s public vPIC service to identify the make, model and year. It is not stored and is not added to any page address.
