What is wrong

Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan) is recalling one 2024 Metrostar emergency vehicle. A node may become unresponsive and cause a loss of functionality of connected components, such as exterior lighting and pump-mode.

The risk

A loss of exterior lights can reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. A loss of pump-mode function may prevent or delay the use of emergency equipment, increasing the risk of injury.

Why equipment defects matter: Equipment defects range from incorrect labels to fire and injury risks; the consequence summary says which applies.

The remedy

Spartan Fire will work with Fire Research Corporation to replace the I/O Nodes, free of charge. The owner notification letter is expected to be mailed November 1, 2026. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 26017.

About the equipment

The equipment category covers parts that are not part of the basic driving systems, such as RV appliances, propane systems, labels, wheelchair lifts and adaptive equipment.

Check by VIN

A campaign rarely covers every vehicle of a model year. Enter your 17-character VIN to find the recall campaigns filed for your make, model and model year. The VIN is on the driver’s side of the dashboard (visible through the windshield), on the door-jamb label, and on your registration and insurance documents.

Is a recall still open on your vehicle? Only NHTSA’s official VIN check can say whether a campaign applies to your exact vehicle and whether the repair has already been done.

Your VIN is decoded with NHTSA’s public vPIC service to identify the make, model and year. It is not stored and is not added to any page address.
