What is wrong

Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Service Body vehicles. Water can leak into the strobe lights, which may cause an electrical short-circuit.

The risk

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Why equipment defects matter: Equipment defects range from incorrect labels to fire and injury risks; the consequence summary says which applies.

The remedy

Altec will provide instructions to inspect the light assembly for moisture and install a new fuse. If moisture is found or the light is inoperative, a light replacement kit will be installed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 23, 2026. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3360. This recall is an expansion of previous NHTSA recall number 23V357.

About the equipment

The equipment category covers parts that are not part of the basic driving systems, such as RV appliances, propane systems, labels, wheelchair lifts and adaptive equipment.

What to do

  1. Enter your VIN in NHTSA’s lookup (below) to confirm that your vehicle is included and that the repair has not already been done.
  2. Call a dealer for the brand and book the repair. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V-551 and the manufacturer’s number CSN-3360.
  3. Read the consequence summary carefully and stop using the affected equipment if the notice says to.
  4. Safety recall repairs are carried out free of charge by the manufacturer’s dealers. If you already paid for this repair yourself, ask the manufacturer about reimbursement and keep your receipt.

Check by VIN

A campaign rarely covers every vehicle of a model year. Enter your 17-character VIN to find the recall campaigns filed for your make, model and model year. The VIN is on the driver’s side of the dashboard (visible through the windshield), on the door-jamb label, and on your registration and insurance documents.

Is a recall still open on your vehicle? Only NHTSA’s official VIN check can say whether a campaign applies to your exact vehicle and whether the repair has already been done.

Your VIN is decoded with NHTSA’s public vPIC service to identify the make, model and year. It is not stored and is not added to any page address.
