Salsa Bean Dip

What the company announced

October 1, 2026 - WinCo Foods of Boise, ID is recalling the following Salsa Bean Dip Trays due to the inclusion of recalled peperoncini from G.L. Mezzetta.

WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Tray Express with UPC 2-67173-#####, with a net weight of 54oz.

WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Tray, 16 Inch Catering Tray(by special order only) with UPC 2-67240-##### with a net weight of 104oz.

The affected peperoncini may have been used as an ingredient on the bean dip trays with “Best If Used By” dates of Aug. 14, 2026 through Sept. 25, 2026.

Product was distributed in WinCo Foods retail stores in AZ, CA, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, and WA.

WinCo Foods was notified by G.L. Mezzetta that a single lot of their Golden Greek Peperoncini has been recalled due to potential pest inclusion due to a video from another grocery chain circulating on social media. Peperoncini are used as an ingredient in the WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Trays.

WinCo Foods did not have or use any product with evidence of pests included in the jar, nor has the company received any complaints regarding potential pests or illness related to the bean dip trays to date.

As these products are ready-made deli-type items with a short shelf life, product is not expected to still be in consumers’ homes, and all product that may have been made using peperoncini was removed from retail stores.

While no pests were observed during the production of the bean dip trays, nor have there been any complaints, WinCo Foods has initiated this recall with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration, with transparency for our customers and food safety in mind.

What to do about Food safety

WinCo Foods — The notice above sets out the specific concern. Whatever the cause, the practical answer with food is the same: stop eating it and claim the refund.

  1. Stop eating it and check the codes on your pack against the identifiers listed on this page.
  2. Wash anything it touched, and clean the shelf it was stored on if the pack has leaked.
  3. Check the freezer and pantry for other packs from the same codes.
  4. If anyone is unwell after eating it, call a clinician and mention the recall by name.

How to get your money back

Food recalls carry a full refund, and in the United States you usually do not need the receipt or the packaging.

  • Take the product, or your photo of the label, to the customer service desk of the store where you bought it. Nearly every national grocer refunds recalled food on the spot.
  • Bought it online? Open the order in your account and use the refund option; marketplace sellers are required to honour a federal recall.
  • If the store refuses, contact the recalling company using the details on this page. The firm, not the shop, carries the cost of a recall.
  • If you have a loyalty card, the retailer can look the purchase up in your history — Kroger, Costco and Walmart all do this routinely.
