The hazard: Undeclared allergen or ingredient

An ingredient subject to mandatory disclosure was left off the packaging, which is what the agency classes as misbranding.

What the notice says: Their presence may pose a risk depending on the amount consumed and the age and body weight of the person using the product.

Why it matters: An ingredient that U.S. law requires to be declared is present but missing from the label. People who avoid that ingredient cannot make a safe choice from the packaging.

Symptoms and when to call a doctor

An undeclared allergen is a danger only to people allergic or intolerant to that ingredient. For everyone else the food is safe. Reactions range from an itchy mouth, hives, stomach cramps or vomiting through to anaphylaxis — swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, a tight chest, wheezing, a sudden drop in blood pressure or collapse. If anaphylaxis is suspected, use an epinephrine auto-injector straight away and call 911, even if the symptoms seem to settle, because a second wave can follow hours later.

What the company announced

“This is an update to the company’s press release, previously issued on 10/06/2026, to clearly explain the hazard associated with the consumption or use of the product.”

Pacific Health Sciences is voluntarily recalling one lot of Babies' Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water dietary supplement.

Product Information

Product: Babies' Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water

Lot Number: 25122bw

Best Before: 12/2028

Package: 4 fl oz (approximately 118 mL) amber bottle inside a blue cardboard box. The lot number appears on the bottom of the box and on a side panel of the bottle. An oral syringe is included in the box.

Reason for Recall

FDA testing of this lot identified ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol that were not declared on the product label. Measured levels were approximately 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol, and 0.48% isopropanol. These substances were not listed on the label. Their presence may pose a risk depending on the amount consumed and the age and body weight of the person using the product.

[Hazard statement]:

Organic alcohols such as ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol are known to impair normal functioning of the central nervous system, while infant ethanol exposure has been linked to long-term developmental consequences. Exposure to the amounts recommended on this product’s packaging can induce drowsiness, incoordination, behavioral changes, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Exposure to higher amounts can increase risk of respiratory depression and other serious adverse health consequences.

To date, Pacific Health Sciences has received no reports of adverse events associated with this lot.

Distribution

The affected product was distributed to Secrets of Tea for subsequent distribution through online retailers, including www.secretsoftea.com and Amazon.

What to do about Allergen

Babies' Magic Tea — An ingredient subject to mandatory disclosure was left off the packaging, which is what the agency classes as misbranding.

  1. Read the official notice above for the exact ingredient involved, then check whether anyone in your home avoids it.
  2. Warn anyone else who eats from your kitchen, including schools and childminders.
  3. Report any reaction to the FDA so it is recorded against this recall.
  4. If nobody here avoids it, the product is safe to eat; the refund is still available if you would rather return it.

Refunds, and what else you can claim

The purchase price is the floor, not the ceiling. Where a recall caused you a real cost, say so.

  • Claim the refund at the store first; it is the fastest route and needs the least paperwork.
  • If you bought several packs over time, list them. Firms routinely settle for more than a single unit when a customer asks.
  • Medical costs, lost earnings or a spoiled event are not handled at the service desk. Write to the company contact on this page instead, with dates and documents.
  • Keep copies of everything you send. If a recall caused harm, that file is what any later claim rests on.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers, parents, and caregivers should stop using any product from Lot 25122bw and either discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
